This trend is also evident with the Bank of America Customized Cash Rewards card. According to Bankrate’s data, an impressive 84 percent of approved applicants had good or excellent credit (48 percent had excellent credit and 36 percent had good credit). For the Bank of America Travel Rewards card, 79 percent of those approved had excellent credit, while only 21 percent had good credit.

As illustrated by our data, top-tier credit cards typically have strict approval criteria, placing a strong emphasis on having a high credit score for eligibility. While a credit score above 800 doesn’t guarantee approval, it certainly improves your chances significantly.
